This year I've decided that rather than getting into the hustle and bustle of Christmas, I will enjoy this season of preparation. Today we made salt dough ornaments with a recipe from Cooks.com. We plan to give these ornaments to grandparents and great-grandparents and keep a few for our own tree.
I bought both kids an apron from Dollar Tree and they have been sooo useful! The sticker thing on the front pretty much washed off in the washing machine, but they still do their job.
The kids loved getting their hands all messy!
Now to roll out the dough...
And start cutting!
Now for painting...
Elizabeth said "COOKIE" every time I put a new one for her to paint, so I finally let her taste it.
And the finished product:
Turned out good for our first try!
We enjoyed making these ornaments and I tried to emphasize that they are going to be gifts. It's so easy to get caught up into "making" Christmas. But I have to remember this quote from "A Holy Experience".
"For Christmas isn’t the making of a product; Christmas is the meeting of a Person."
Looks like fun & I LOVE the quote!
