Typical School Day

Just letting you all look in to what a "school day" looks like at my house.  Keep in mind that Micah is three years old (will be four in two weeks).

First we start our day with Circle Time.  We really build this up and he gets so excited about it!  Thanks Kat Garret for introducing this to me!  We start with the day, weather, letter, and scripture memorization.  I found the alphabet memory verse on this page .  When he just turned three, we had one letter per week.  Now he can do two or three per week.

Elizabeth plays in the room while we do Circle Time.

Then we practice writing the letter of the day, while naming things that start with that letter.

Then we do what Micah calls "school work".  I have a rare child who loves doing work from books like this (from Wal-mart)!  If you're child doesn't thrive with workbook material, then I would suggest other routes of learning, especially in the younger years.

Many times I will allow Micah to play an educational computer game or something like Starfall while I get housework done.  Some days we have a project: making playdough, finding critters, building castles. On this day, we did  laundry and emptied the dishwasher :)
